Overview

Ciclo is a dedicated cannabis operations software application with a dual focus. Chaski streamlines cannabis operations and ensures compliance, while Listo serves as a secure cannabis marketplace, facilitating swift connections between sellers and buyers. The brand’s overarching objective is to provide transparency, foster responsibility, and empower operators within the cannabis industry.

Role: I worked closely with the Chief Operations to create a cannabis brand without cannabis green or a leaf design. I ran brand positioning, strategy, and complete identity brand guidelines.

Process Highlights:

  • Challenge: The Chief Operations and Growth Officer recognized the prevalent use of cannabis leaf logos and a typical industry look, which many of Ciclo’s software competitors followed. Avoiding these clichés was a priority for the rebrand.
    Solution: During the strategic process, I uncovered a unique aspect—each of Ciclo’s four founders had Mayan and Aztec backgrounds. This discovery led us to draw inspiration from Mayan and Aztec cultures for the visual identity.

  • Challenge: The overuse of green, both in the cannabis leaf and throughout the competitor landscape, presented a branding challenge.
    Solution: As straightforward as it may seem, we decided to entirely avoid using green in the graphic branding, reserving it solely for photographs of the client’s cannabis farms. This choice allowed the photography to take center stage on Ciclo’s website and stand out distinctively.
